The exhibition
contains a collection of work depicting the familiar and the not so familiar
scenes of our dynamic capital city. Theatres, restaurants, the London Eye, the
Gherkin, Trafalgar Square, bridges over the Thames, the Embankment, well-known
London pubs and even the red London bus are included.
The bustle of café life, spectacular City landmarks, a riverside stroll along
the Embankment and London parks in the Springtime are all painted with the
vitality of artists who know and love such a diverse city. London in the
sunshine, London in the rain, London in the early morning, London as the sun
sets, London with its bright lights, London in the dark, busy London squares,
empty London streets – the contrasts of our amazing City are all revealed in
these paintings.
Ken Bizon, Tom Coates, Patrick Collins, Roy Connelly, Stephen Crowther, Kevin
Gould, Peter Graham, Mark Harrison, John Hoar, Fraser King, George Large, Terry
McKivragan, Liam O’Farrell, Nancy Petley-Jones, Nadia Tsakova, Robert E Wells and Bruce Yardley
are amongst the artists with paintings in the exhibition.
The artists’ style and technique reveal a personal interpretation of the mood
and atmosphere of one of the greatest cities in the world.
